This was a very interesting talk. Patrick has spent all his working life restoring barometers and brought plenty to show us. Some of us had to admit that our knowledge was sadly lacking in this department and so found it all very enlightening - we had no idea of the significance and many applications of these instruments.
Although we were a couple of days late, our Valentine theme was well received. "Goodies" supplied the balloons, table decorations and chocolates, while the special cakes and cookies came from Royston's Traditional Bakery in Long Stratton. These are becoming a bit of a habit and featured high up on the evaluation sheets! Someone got 10/10 in the quiz so I expect next month's will be harder. We all went away wearing "hearts on our sleeves".
