Well, we thought the Christmas party was a great success. 36 people came along including 11 newcomers and guests.
Shirley Ebdell made another of her splendid cakes. Mags Adlam led the festive music and encouraged everyone to join in. We got a bit tangled with the bell ringing, but it didn't matter at all, it was such fun and caused a lot of laughter.
We were particularly pleased that the food turned out well as our original caterers had to cancel at the last minute due to family illness, and so we were very grateful to Roystons Traditional Bakers at Long Stratton who came up trumps at short notice.
Geoff Mantle Chairman of The D.I.S.S. Group.(Disability Issues and Social Support) came to tell us a little about his group. It's for disabled people over the age of 18. The average age of group members at the moment is approx 50. They meet every Tuesday at the Denny Centre in Diss from 10 am until about 1 pm and organise speakers and outings. They are lobbying for better access to Diss Railway Station. Talk to Brenda Fleet if you want to know more. (01379 676279)
Pat Whiteside, updated us on the Pennoyers Project which is progressing - we look forward to hearing about the opening date (February - March) and when coffees will be available!

Charlotte Hays came to show us the recipe book she has written in order to raise funds for the Pennoyers Project. Several of us snapped them up as last minute Christmas presents.

Brenda's Seasonal Quiz was very entertaining - well done to the overall winners who named all Santa's reindeer to gain maximum points.
We all signed a card for the surgery staff, wishing them a very happy and hopefully not too busy Christmas and New Year. Unfortunately none of them were free to attend - they missed a good party, but we left them a few treats!
The good news is that we have since received a small grant from Age Concern to help cover the party costs, so put your thinking caps on for future plans - there may be something left in the kitty for another celebration!
